must (not!) see TV

Swedish state broadcaster SVT has admitted a “huge blunder” after a porn film was accidentally shown in the background of a news bulletin.

A five-minute news update shown at the weekend included explicit scenes from a Czech porn movie on a monitor behind the anchor Peter Dahlgren.

Apparently the Swedish audience didn’t mind a bit. Given the U.S. tendency to devolve into mass hysteria at the sight of a nipple during prime time, I wonder what the response would be if this little kind of little mishap occurred during, say, a broadcast of “The O’Reilly Factor”?

  1. I’m guessing O’Reilly would try to cross the video feeds himself in order to inappropriately hit on the actors in said adult movie?

  2. If that were to happen, then it surely would have been the Muslims’ doing!

  3. It’s all the terrorists’ fault! Sweden was just the next natural target on their list.
The Swedish show, “Rapport,” is now being referred to in the press as “Rapporn.” Learning this caused me to spend too many minutes thinking up “The O’Ribaldry Factor” (not to mention “Hannity & Cums” — but we won’t go there).

  4. Actually, this did happen in the U.S. I was visiting Las Vegas and turned on the evening business report on MSNBC to see how the stock market had done that day while I was busy pouring coins into slot machines. The program was interrupted by a porn film that lasted for about 5 minutes before someone at the station noticed and turned the screen black. The next day it was mentioned (with laughter) on the local new channels, and there was a short article in the newspaper. Nobody died.

  5. Refreshing to know that it wasn’t a big deal. I wonder if it was partly due to the fact that it was a cable channel?

  6. LOL! You know Europeans and Americans regard things so very differently.

  7. That’s for sure. Sometimes when the U.S. public is having conniptions over something to do with sex, I can visualize the Europeans shaking their heads at what a repressed bunch we are.

  8. Better watch it folks. 4min 30sec into the broadcast. 😉

Greatings from the “Northland Wonderland” Sweden

  9. Thanks so much for the link — and hello to Sweden from Indiana, USA!
